Breakfast!

I found a doughnut pan at Goodwill for a buck or so.
I sprayed six cups with non-stick spray and broke eggs into them, and baked.
Plopped them into a plate and topped with a bit of cheddar and heated in the oven to melt.
Onto an English muffin and into a zip bag. Voila, breakfast for a week.

New Craft Project

I found a book on altering shoes, and it looked like fun.
So, having had awesome success glittering up a pair of flats, I bought the book and dug out a favorite, beat up pair of leather clogs or mules or whatever you want to call them, some scrapbook paper in gray-brown prints, the modpodge and some black and dark-brown glitter.




Here you can see everything where I shoved it out of the way to fix dinner.
Now, they need piping around the soles to cover the stitching, and for me to put the ends through the buckles when they're completely dry.

Dyeing!

I bought a Tulip dyeing kit the other day, and some cheap white t-shirts, and a couple of white cotton scarves.  I also had two silk scarves meant for dyeing.  I made an unholy mess in my kitchen, but I had fun!

The second one amuses me, because it started out as brown and dark teal and ended up turquoise and purple-ish. You just never know! Well, *I* never know...someone who actually studies these techniques and dyes might...

AH MAH GAH

Vacation is coming!  I've made our reservations for a cabin in TN, I've made Benny's reservations for a week at the spa (vet), and I've booked my time off.  Need to make husband-person get his time off booked, then I shall be on to my Lists.

Print maps, pack food and treats for Benny, get Robbie to watch other critters, what to pack!  Woo!  And all sorts of other Lists.

Anyone who analyzed my Dollar Tree purchases would come to the conclusion that a) I love a bargain. b) I am an impuse buyer. c) I am 12. d) All of the above. Today's lovely purchases include silk flowers, flamingo plant hangers, some nice (huge) canvas tote bags, a couple of wine glasses and these items:

Weekend

I love the beach with a passion.  Water is my healing force.   When I need strength and calm, moving water moves me.

We took the bike to Bradenton.  The ride was gorgeous.  Sunny, warm, and windy.  The beach was the same, and the water was clear and calm, but OH SO COLD.  Take your breath-away cold.  It was awesome.

My gosh, you guys.  It's amazing how hard you can fall in love with a tiny, little old man who wants you to DIAF.  Ducky the Parrotlet is sooooo cute to me, even (and maybe especially) when he's threatening to kick my butt. 

He has a favorite place he hangs out in the daytime, where he's fairly hidden from view.  I've noticed that when I come home in the afternoon and deal with my screaming conure, Ducky stays hidden, but then when Benny calms down, and I can say hello to him, Ducky comes out and sits on a perch where he can see and be seen. 

Then while I'm cooking dinner, he comes out again and watches me cook, and blinks with me and I talk to him and whistle a bit.  Sometimes, if I've given him fresh millet, he'll climb up on the side of the cage and eat while I cook. 

And in the evening, when I turn out his uv light, he crawls into his favorite sleeping spot like he was waiting for me to tell him it was bedtime.
I love that rotten little turd of a bird!

Bloggity Blog

So in addition to my other crafty pursuits, I've added nail-polish jewelry.  This is fantastically fun, because some of these nail polishes, I *really* don't like on the nail--this gives me a use for them.  So many pretty pretty things I've made.  Of course, as usual, I've given away half of what I've made, but here are a few.



I plan to continue making them, but I haven't decided what I want to do with them yet.  I'm not sure if I want to set myself up as a seller or not, even though I already have an empty Etsy storefront setup.

I haven't had a blog in a long time...

Not sure if I even want this one, but here it is anyway. 

So.  What is this blog about?  I imagine it will be pretty random.  Crochet, nail polish, critters, my life.  In fact, I almost guarantee it will be random.  With lots of Shiny Stuff.  And most of it, though certainly not all, will be Happy.  'Cause that's who I am.
